Full Job Description

We are looking for someone to positively and proactively support the day-to-day SEND provision we offer our pupils. The successful candidate will ideally be a trained SENDCo who holds Qualified Teacher Status. They should have the National Award for SEN Coordination (NA SENCO), though this is not essential. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching children with a range of SEND across the whole primary age range.

The focus of the job role will be ensuring students with a SEN or disability have full entitlement to the curriculum and to provide professional guidance to colleagues., In order to facilitate this, we will:

  • Give access to a wide range of development and training opportunities - including working with other SEND specialists and SENDCo across the Trust

  • Support you in achieving the National Award for SEN Coordination (NA SENCO) upon taking up post, if needed

  • Give you the opportunity to be a powerful and influential voice on the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

    Our hardworking, enthusiastic SENDCo will:

  • Have an excellent understanding of the principles of inclusive teaching

  • Understand their statutory duties in relation to SEND and equality

  • Be strong in the use of data to track progress and identify needs

  • Uunderstand the importance of early identification of pupils with additional need

  • Have an understanding of a range of strategies and research-based interventions to support staff to meet the needs of pupils

  • Understand the importance of developing positive working relationships with all stakeholders, including parents and outside agencies., Those we recruit are able to demonstrate that they share our values, are highly motivated to work with colleagues, within and beyond their school, to continuously develop their skills and pursue professional excellence.

  • Goosewell Primary Academy is a successful, highly regarded three-form entry primary academy with a PAN of 630. The Academy was inspected in December 2019 and received a Good rating: 'Pupils thrive at Goosewell Primary Academy. They enjoy learning and making friends. Many pupils told inspectors that the school was very friendly and that pupils were kind and well behaved. Pupils learn about the importance of acting respectfully and with empathy for others throughout the curriculum.'
