Full Job Description

As part of a 8 partner practice, you will get involved with a wide variety of tasks such as:

  • Preparing accounts for small and medium sized entities including preparation of corporation tax returns

  • Preparation of personal tax returns

  • Working on audits for various sized clients (previous audit experience not essential).

  • Maintaining client records on Sage (or similar accounting package) and production of management accounts

  • Will involve work based both in the office and at clients' premises

  • Will involve liaising directly with clients

  • Will involve working in London on certain assignments

  • Overall role will be split roughly 50% audit and 50% accounts preparation

  • Client base will be 70% charity and NFP/30% commercial organisations.

  • Role will be varied, hugely enjoyable and candidates can expect to progress to a higher level.

    They are looking for an audit and account senior who have an interest in the not-for-profit sector and are keen to develop specialist expertise. Prior experience of the sector is desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided., Must have sound working knowledge of double entry book-keeping

  • Ability to produce basic accounts from incomplete records

  • Sound knowledge of accounting software (Sage50C, Sage Accounts Online, Xero)

  • Good working knowledge of spreadsheets

  • Must have good communication skills

  • Use of own car essential

  • Self-motivated and responsible

  • Good time management skills as maybe working on multiple assignments

    Our client is a leading firm of Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors specialising in providing audit, assurance and advisory services to charities and other not-for-profit organisations. They also provide a range of services to businesses and individuals. They operate primarily in London and the Southeast.


  • They are one of the oldest firms of chartered accountants in Britain. They have been an independent partnership for over 150 years and intend to remain an independent specialist firm.

  • They have developed a hybrid working environment which will allow you to work a mixture of office, client and home based. They do not currently expect staff at a senior level to normally work more than two to three days in the office/at client's premises each week but this is dependent on the requirements of the client.

  • Ongoing training offered covering a range of subjects including accounting, auditing and taxation issues affecting the not-for-profit sector.

  • 20 days annual leave per annum plus 5 days additional leave at Christmas (decided by the partners) when the office is closed plus 8 BH days per year

  • Entitlement to join the workplace pension scheme with Peoples Pension (employee contribution of 5% and an employer contribution of 3% increasing to 5% once you have been in the scheme and firm for 2 years)
