Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our existing AIM Project providing SEMH and Wellbeing support to Care-Experienced young people across Leeds. The AIM Project currently delivers a range of support focussed on emotional wellbeing, post-16 transitions and aspirational activities for Care Experienced young people aged 13-15 and Post-16. We offer longer term support of 18 months intensive work, with the potential to progress to post service support offered by our volunteer staff.

Thanks to Maria Marina and Big Lottery Funding we are looking to expand and develop our offer for Care Experienced Young People across Leeds.

This support will provide;

Emotional wellbeing / mental health Support - consisting of weekly support sessions, offered in school and across the community. The young person will identify the areas of their life they would like to see change and this will inform their support plan. The support will utilise interactive and creative resources to engage young people in exploring their emotional and mental health. The support worker adopts a solution focused, non-judgemental approach, using CBT based interventions and counselling skills to create a safe space for young people to talk about the issues that are affecting them.

Aspirational experiences and visits - Throughout the programme we aim to understand each young person's strengths and interests and build on these areas. We will involve young people in planning and attending a wide range of experiences and visits that teach them new skills, increase their understanding of different ways of living and provoke ideas around future employment opportunities.

Progression planning and support - The AIM project ensures that each young person has a robust post 16 progression plan in place through joint working with schools, social workers and carers, We have provided progression support in a number of ways including arranging specialist SEN support in college, providing mock interview training and undertaking regular wellbeing visits to college and sixth form to provide continuity of support.

Promoting the voice and influence of CLA in Leeds - The AIM project puts young people's voice at the heart of the support planning process as well as providing a space for young people to shape and plan the aspirational experiences on offer.

This unique role will have a case load of young people and be part of the wider Transitions Team delivering support across West Yorkshire

Salary: Scale 5, Sp.12 £20,915.68 pro-rata (£25,796 FTE)
