Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive, motivated and passionate individual to join the Head and Neck Clinical Service Unit working as an Assistant Patient Services Coordinator (APSC).

The individual will be based in our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) outpatients department at the Leeds General Infirmary.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to further their career development and to gain experience in a large and diverse department with both Inpatient and Outpatient care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to support the ENT inpatient and outpatient services through waiting list management, developing staff and providing a support role to the management team to proactively deliver performance targets and service improvement.

This post is pivotal in providing key operational support to ensure the delivery of quality, patient focused service, with a key focus on validation and RTT management.

The Assistant PSC will able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including patients, clinical staff and administrative colleagues.

The Assistant PSC will support the Patient Services Co-ordinators and Business Managers to provide a high-quality service that align with Trust standards.

The post holder is expected to be an effective team player, with the ability to work flexibly in a diverse and demanding environment to meet the evolving needs of the business.

The role would therefore suit someone with experience in an administrative role who is looking for a new challenge. For the right person this role offers an opportunity to develop your skillset and improve patient care in a high profile and supporting trust, Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to forge and maintain relationships.

The ability to manage and prioritise a large and varied workload, quickly find solutions and to focus on critical issues when decision making are all essential.

The Assistant PSC will manage their defined areas within the speciality and will be responsible for prioritising work, developing and, reviewing working practices to ensure the effective running of the department and effective communication structures are implemented.

They will ensure that processes / procedures comply with legislation requirements covering Health & Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality.

Ideally the candidate should possess excellent time management skills. Familiarity with Patient Centre, Epro, and PPM+ is essential and experience in waiting list validation and RTT performance targets would be advantageous, but not essential.

Essential core knowledge and understanding to include :

The post-holder to possess a good standard of written and spoken English.

Basic computer literacy and willingness to further computer skills.

A thorough understanding of all policies and procedures governing the Trusts approach and delivery to Patient Administration.

An understanding of team management and the policy and procedures governing the Trusts approach to managing staff.

    The post holder will have a good range of interpersonal and communication skills to motivate the team effectively. They will have a proven track record of leading and motivating staff in the delivery of quality patient care across business and clinical environments.
