Full Job Description

We are an independent group of pharmacies, looking for a part-time Bookkeeper to work in our head office for 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will have bookkeeping/accounting experience, ideally in a stand-alone role. The role is based primarily in Colchester however, the role will require occasional travel across Essex, Suffolk, and Oxfordshire.

Duties will include:

  • Issue invoices

  • Process invoices received

  • Using Xero software to complete daily reconciliations

  • Responsible for credit control - ensure invoices issued are paid on time

  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns

  • Produce financial reports for the company directors on a monthly basis

  • Produce various reports/analysis when required by directors

  • Respond to finance queries over the telephone and via email

  • General day-to-day accounts and filing/admin duties

    Basic accounting skills

  • Working knowledge of Xero and Excel

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Analytical mind with strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivator who can work well independently and within a team

  • Proactive approach to improve the efficiency of processes implemented

  • Implement new processes within the finance function

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and suppliers

  • Bookkeeping/accounting experience gained within the pharmacy sector would be an advantage
