Full Job Description

The rota is based on a 4-day working week of 9.25 hours per shift. You will work a 16-week shift pattern on a fixed rota so will always know in advance when you are required to work. The rota consists of early and late shifts which will include weekends

The post holder will play a major role in delivering a high profile, front line service to the City acting as eyes and ears on the street, reporting any relevant street level issues for appropriate action. In addition will be expected to act as an ambassador for the Council. Experience in the Civil Enforcement role is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Good customer communication skills are essential as is the ability to work within a team environment. You must be fit enough to be able to walk up to 10 miles a day in all weather conditions carrying several items of equipment.

The role often involves having to deal with irate customers when a PCN has been issued, or sometimes with verbal abuse from the general public. The CEO's need to be able to use tact and sensitivity but also have to be able to be assertive because they are enforcing unpopular regulations.

Uniform and protective clothing are provided. A clean driving licence is essential. Your hours of work will vary as you will work to a shift rota that will include weekend and bank holiday working., As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
