Full Job Description

Personnel Take line management responsibility for dental receptionists and dental nurses including responsibility for motivation, objective-setting and appraisals Arrange for and undertake the recruitment and selection of permanent and temporary staff Arrange staff inductions and training Organise disciplinary and grievance arrangements Keep and monitor staff records particularly regarding sickness absence and annual leave Keep the practices contracts of employment up to date Co-ordinate arrangements and conduct staff appraisals Organise, attend and participate in practice meetings Finance Take responsibility for and supervise all banking procedures, including deposits, payments and checking bank statements Take responsibility for and supervise NHS activity returns and receipts, checking monthly schedules Arrange the payment of all staff and associates Ensure the operation of the patient payment policy and the collection of outstanding debts Check invoices and prepare payment cheques for
signature. Patients Ensure the operation of the patient recall system Ensure the operation of the practice complaints procedure Deal with patient queries which cannot be dealt with by other team members Keep the practice leaflet and other patient communications up-to-date Administration Keep all practice documentation up-to-date, including policies, procedures and handbooks Ensure the maintenance of the practice computer system Produce and implement the practice marketing plan With the practice owner, deal with practice mail Equipment and health and safety Liaise with sales and suppliers representatives as necessary Ensure that there is an efficient stock control and supply procedure Ensure practice compliance with health and safety requirements Ensure that practice equipment is serviced and maintained Data Protection Officer duties Ensure the practice is informed of their obligations arising from data protection law as relevant to the practice Monitor the compliance with data protection
law and remedy deficiencies or raise them with the practice owner Ensure staff are aware of relevant aspects of data protection law and of their duties and responsibility relating to data protection and patient confidentiality Seek advice where necessary, and provide advice to the practice and practice staff regarding data protection law Complete, where necessary, data impact assessments; seeking advice as appropriate Co-operate with and act as a contact point for the Information Commissioners Office, as appropriate. Other duties Support the practice owner(s) in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (for example, CQC, RQIA, HIW). Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (perhaps including the duties and tasks of a dental nurse in exceptional circumstances) Arrange and attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR Act as the registered CQC Manager if necessary Oversee and develop patient services with members of the management
team including: repeat prescribing systems (not relevant), appointment access, surgery timetables, staff rotas, performance targets and online access Work clinically when required to cover colleagues and the service Strategy and Service Development Share and contribute expertise.
