Bridlington School Science Department is looking for an enthusiastic, well organised, team player to join the team as a Deputy Director (Head of Physics). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career.

The Role

As a Deputy Director in Science, you will have a direct input into the strategic leadership of the department, supporting the Director of Science. You will oversee the learning journey for Physics from KS3 through to KS5 - an ability to teach KS5 Physics is essential.

You will have the opportunity to teach Combined Science and Triple Science at GCSE, we also have an offering of Biology, Physics and Chemistry A-Levels. The school is ambitious in growing expertise in Science and also started BTEC Applied Science Level 3 from September 2023.

The Team

Science at Bridlington is a well-resourced department with 8 labs, 2 prep rooms and 8 teachers. We are very proud of our curriculum and how it is designed to spiral our students learning and teach them to become the scientists of the future. As a department we lead on whole school priorities and are extremely passionate about everything Teaching and Learning. Collaboration is key to the success of our department and this includes the planning of resources and CPD to ensure we remain at the top of our game. Extracurricular activities are a fundamental part of our department and we run successful STEM, ECO and Study Skills Clubs. The department is support by 2 technicians and 3 teaching assistants all of who are extremely enthusiastic and form an integral part of our team.

As a Deputy Director in Science, you can expect a wealth of experience to work with within the team - the Associate Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher for Aspirations and ECT Leader all work in this department.

This provides opportunity to be involved in transition and outreach work, but also connections with peers across the local area.
