Full Job Description

As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your Manager in ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care. As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and well-being.
Ward 3 is a dynamic, fast paced ward specializing in complex female mental health assessment. The Wards pathway is based on the acute care model, outlined in the report "Old problems New solutions" 2016.
Based on a 72 hour assessment process all our patients receive a comprehensive assessment delivered by a full MDT, with the focus remaining on independence & recovery., The post holder is responsible for the delivery of care and for the supervision of others who are carrying out all aspects of the caring process.
The post-holder will assist in setting and maintaining standards of care, will participate in maintaining effective management of the team and unit and will also maintain effective integration with the multi-disciplinary team and assist with the facilitation of a collaborative approach to patient focussed care.
The post-holder will act as a reliable role model for junior staff., · To act at all times in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional Conduct.
· To perform all aspects of the role in accordance with Trust policies and other national bodies.
· To participate in the assessment of care needs and the development implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
· To provide specialist advice to other members of staff and act as a role model.
· In conjunction with the Ward Manager, to take responsibility for setting, maintaining and evaluating standards of care throughout the 24 hour period.
· To liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies in the implementation of patient care.
· To ensure that care activities are research based and in keeping with changes in the field of activity.
· To contribute to the development of ideas and innovative practice.
· To initiate and participate in departmental audit as requested by the Ward Manager.
· To act in the role as site manager at times, supporting the operational management of the site including coordination of the section 136 suite, + In the event of exceptionally high levels of response, we reserve the right to close the post before the date stated above in order to prevent the number of applications received being unmanageable.   • Priority will be given to NHS staff across the region who are at risk of redundancy, where the vacancy is at the same band or one below their current band and candidates meet the essential criteria for this post.

  • All employees new to the Trust will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.

  • All clinical staff bands 2-4 that are new to the Trust will be required to complete a Care Certificate.

  • Canvassing of members of the Trust or of any Committee of the Trust directly or indirectly for any appointment under the Trust shall disqualify the candidate for such appointment. The Trust does not pay travel expenses for candidates attending interviews.
