Full Job Description

The Product Design Team sits within the Commercial Structure. Our team is responsible for delivering digital commercial and player engagement growth targets for Allwyn (Operators of The National Lottery).

The channel is responsible for delivering new digital products and services for National Lottery players working closely with both internal and external teams.

Our role is to communicate the The National Lottery brand promise through all digital touch points whilst providing a reliable and effective experience.

The team is also responsible for activating digital marketing activity to support key draw events, rollovers, winners and good cause activity targeting key player groups.

We look to you to create digital copy that communicates our key messages in a way that puts the customer at the centre of what we do, whilst supporting commercial objectives.

Role Information :

This role is offered as a 12 month FTC. We offer hybrid working with an expectation that the successful candidate will work from our Watford HQ, two times per week.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Maintain an effective peer-to-peer review process within the content team. The purpose of this is to ensure that all content being published meets both editorial guidelines and customer needs.

  • Oversee a review and consolidation of existing editorial guidelines. Ensure that recommendations from a recent audit are incorporated within them and that new editorial checklists are put in place.

  • As part of the National Lottery Brand guidelines and Transformation project, you undertake full reviews of all content on the site (approx.


  • 350 pages), updating copy so that it meets the new Tone of Voice guidelines.
  • Support the creation of effective copy for key CRM campaigns, site content and Product initiatives across web and app.

  • Edit and review content produced by content managers. As part of this, demonstrate a good understanding of writing for mobile devices, to support a mobile first approach to content.

  • Take a lead on the creation of editorial formats for key content types. Work closely with UX and Design internally and our content agency externally, to produce reusable and effective templates., 34 days paid leave (This includes bank holidays)

  • As part of our onboarding processes, all successful candidates will need to complete both a Pre-Employment Screening process and a Fit & Proper check by the Gambling Commission.

    These checks include a DBS (an enhanced check, which shows convictions and conditional cautions), credit and social media checks.

    As part of our application process, you will be asked to identify in advance if you have spent or unspent convictions that we need to be aware of.

    Should you not disclose convictions at the application stage, not pass the Fit & Proper Check process or not complete your Pre-Employment Screening then unfortunately you may not pass our probation process.

    All data will be handled in accordance with our data policies and treated with utmost confidentiality.

  • Demonstrable experience in digital copywriting within a medium size organisation.

  • Write in plain English, ensuring content is relevant, accurate and consistent (in Style)

  • Creating innovative content to meet commercial and customer needs

  • Communicate and challenge stakeholders, to help improve existing ways of working

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Manage competing priorities and deliver to a high standard

  • Working in an agile way with cross-disciplinary teams (Design, UX, CRM)
