Full Job Description

Environmental Services Officers are part of the team responsible for keeping the public realm of Chesterfield maintained. The post involves grounds maintenance activities such as mowing grass, verges, parks, and open spaces, hand and mechanically sweeping roads and footpaths, emptying litter and dog waste bins and litter picking.

There may also be opportunities to undertake some specialist tasks such as fine turf maintenance, pitch maintenance and drainage works. Our ideal candidate for this post will have a background in one of the following, grounds maintenance, street cleansing, or comparable sectors.

You will be required to work some weekend and bank holidays on a rota basis, so flexibility is essential. We also operate a seasonal working system which involves working longer hours in the summer and shorter hours in the winter. You will need to be a proactive and positive person who can be helpful and friendly to our local community and who will contribute to all the activities we undertake. You will have a positive influence on the reputation of the service.
