Full Job Description

Offering crucial support to Strategic Development & Service Delivery as well as business critical initiatives such as Rolling Stock Strategy and Transpennine Route Upgrade. As an essential member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in providing in-depth financial analysis and valuable insights on critical cost areas across the P&L.
The roles allows you to work from home but there will be an expectation to be in the office or out and about on the network when required (usually a couple of days a week).
If this sounds like your thing, we'd love to hear from you., This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

  • Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, covering Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet, with separate reports on initiatives like Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) & Rolling Stock Strategy.

  • Attending and contribution at cross industry meeting, including with Rail North Partnership (RNP), Department for Transport (DfT) and Network Rail

  • Assisting in making annual budgets and quarterly forecasts by collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather high-quality cost and income data

  • Creating regular reports that offer insights into both financial and non-financial performance, bridging the gap between the two

  • Acting a key contact in the team for matters related to the functions that this role supports

  • Working closely with other members of the Financial Planning team to ensure consistent reporting, budgeting, and processes where applicable

  • Exploring and harnessing new technologies to simplify processes and enhance reporting

    We are seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Finance Manager to join our team to deliver precise and punctual budgeting, forecasting and reporting. In this multifaceted role, you'll contribute significantly to the achievement of the organisation's financial and strategic objectives., You will be a CCAB qualified accountant, or studying towards achieving this and have previous experience in the provision and analysis of accurate, timely financial information.

  • We're also looking for the following:
  • Must be able to work under own initiative and effectively manage their own workload

  • A sound knowledge and understanding of the operational environment would be an advantage

  • Must be IT literate and have detailed knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office products and at least one integrated accounting system, preferably SAP. The ability to use Excel to an advanced level is essential and experience of developing any MI / BI reports would be preferable (e.g. using PowerBi or Tableau).

  • Have the ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
