Full Job Description

The role will be to manage a case load of young people, providing practical & emotional support and
advocating on their behalf as needed. The post holder will carry out needs assessments, develop
individualised engagement plans to address barriers and through both one-to-one support and a
range of group development activities, increase participants' confidence, self-esteem, skills and
resilience to help them achieve their identified education and employment goals.

This role is fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, funded via Swindon Borough Council,
and the post holder will be solely employed on the programme delivery. The role is on a fixed term
contract basis until the end of March 2025.

The role may include occasional evening and weekend working.

to an Enhanced DBS, along with relevant background checks, references, a probationary period,
and completion of mandatory training requirements., The purpose of the role is to support young people in Swindon referred onto the Inspire Swindon
programme who are aged 15-18 years and NEET, at risk of becoming NEET, or engaged with Swindon
Youth Justice Service and 19-25 year olds who are care experienced and/or have an Education,
Health and Care Plan, to help them progress towards and sustain education, training and/or
employment outcomes.

The role will be to manage a case load of young people, providing practical & emotional support and

Funding

This role is fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, funded via Swindon Borough Council,
and the post holder will be solely employed on the programme delivery. The role is on a fixed term
contract basis until the end of March 2025.

Main Duties

1) Work with young people to undertake eligibility checks, identify their barriers and needs and
develop a personalised progression plan.

2) Provide practical one-to-one support which enables progress towards the individual goals agreed
with each young person, including supported cross-referral to other support as necessary and
lead group work as required.

3) Ensure all participant documentation and progress updates are recorded in a timely & accurate
manner and maintained in line with programme governance requirements, including case files
and entry into the Management Information System., 4) Organise and manage support activities including volunteering, outdoor education, and personal
development for young people on the Inspire Swindon programme which includes accredited
learning and weekend, evening and residential development activities.

5) Offer one-to-one support including coaching and mentoring which engages and supports young
people to effectively tackle and overcome challenges in their lives and be resilient.

6) Manage groups of young people and be responsible for their care while participating in positive
activities including residential projects.

7) Support referrals to appropriate partner organisations to help the young person achieve their
goals, ensuring referrals are processed in a timely fashion and work with the young person to
make engaging with this support as seamless as possible.

8) Maintain detailed records as required and submit reports & information to the programme team
as required, including case studies and digital media such as photographs and videos.

9) Liaise closely with the Local Authority EET team to receive referrals, agree personal
development programmes for young people and feed back on any areas for improvement.

10) Ensure that all activities comply with health & safety regulations and Community First
procedures. Support the risk assessment of all activities using the appropriate forms and
processes and ensure the safety of young people whilst on activities, escalating any safety
concerns to the Targeted Support Manager for Young People and/or Head of Youth Action
Wiltshire immediately.

11) Adhere to all organisational policies including home visits, equality, lone working, safeguarding,
data sharing and confidentiality.

12) Provide and arrange transport to activities, one to one support and training sessions for young
people.

13) Where appropriate, work with parents and carers to encourage their involvement to support young
people

14) Foster a young person-centred approach at all times, ensuring there is no discrimination or
bullying.

15) Maintain existing and establish new local and strategic partnerships which support the
development of services for young people, increasing the reach of our overall work.

16) Maintain provider relationships and develop strong partnerships to generate referrals, funding and
new activity.


General Duties

The post-holder will contribute to achieving the overall mission of Community First.

  • Budget holders assume financial responsibility for own operational budget. Non-budget holders

  • ensure expenditure is necessary and within budget constraints.

  • Participate in the team working approach of Community First., Take responsibility for their own development, inform the line manager of any development

  • needs, and take part in prescribed development activities.

  • Work within the agreed policies and procedures of Community First


  • Carry out such other general duties as shall be determined by the Chief Executive. Support other

  • members of staff as required by the workload and by absences due to leave, sickness etc.

  • Ensure that office security is maintained, and confidences are not breached.


  • Promote an alert approach to matters relating to Health and Safety at Work and maintain

  • compliance with the terms of the building Fire Certificate.

  • Abide by the organisation's Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and the Protection

  • of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) Policy

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience (Creativity, problem solving skills & interpersonal skills)

    Essential Desirable

    A strong track record of organising and A level 3 qualification in youth work or related
    delivering one-to-one support for young people subject

    A strong track record of organising and
    delivering group work activities for Tutor training related qualification or PTLLS
    young people

    Able to work effectively with young people Marketing skills able to creatively present
    facing barriers and challenges in their lives information and outcomes

    Experience and understanding of risk
    assessment and safe working practices


    Strong understanding of issues relating to
    vulnerable young people, especially NEET and
    at risk of NEET and commitment to supporting
