Full Job Description

We are searching for a talented Lead Engineer of Vehicle Network Architectures to take the lead in designing, developing, and maintaining the vehicle network architectures for all Alexander Dennis products. As the leader, you will oversee teams, activities, and projects, ensuring that our designs are reliable, safe, and secure, meeting and exceeding customer expectations and legislative requirements. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to incorporate cutting-edge technologies and emerging systems to stay ahead in the global market.,

  • Provide technical expertise and a strategic outlook to lead the innovative development and verification of architectures in accordance with appropriate design and cyber security standards.

  • Lead the specification, selection and maintenance of our common central control, and power distribution components.

  • Lead the definition, documentation, and release of physical vehicle network topologies, maintaining a platform approach, and ensuring integration compliance across the product range.

  • Define, implement and maintain a comprehensive vehicle level CAN network management suite.

  • Define, implement and maintain a Fleet Management System (FMS) network for our vehicles, to satisfy the data requirements of fleet management partners, and ultimately our end customers.

  • Define, implement, and maintain a process for controlling all network related changes and updates.

  • Provide technical expertise and a strategic outlook to lead the innovative development of vehicle architectures, including common across platform control and distribution components.

  • Ensure design management, development and revision control processes are applied, and provide traceability and controlled access to vehicle network architecture documentation.

  • Prepare and present technical documentation and papers, generating designs and documents to the relevant quality and safety standards.

  • Lead the definition of and compliance with relevant internal and international standards, best practice and legislation.

  • Arrange and co-ordinate activities with internal and external partners or suppliers to achieve quality, cost and delivery targets for each project.

    Knowledge of communication protocols and tools, e.g. CAN, LIN, IP

  • Experience of implementing engineering quality and management processes.

  • Demonstrable planning and delivery of concurrent tasks and projects.

  • Ability to work in a structured engineering process-oriented environment.

  • Proven problem-solving skills to establish and address true root cause.

  • Experience of Vector, Polarion and Teamcenter tools or similar.

  • Experience of vehicle architecture definition from a blank page.

  • Familiarity or basic awareness of functional safety and cyber security standards.

  • Experience working specifically with SAE J1939.

  • Ability to communicate and present technical subjects to non-technical stakeholders.
