Full Job Description

As Lead Operative, you will set the standards for production and operational activities. You will lead and develop your team, remodel production activities towards world-class performance and make continuous improvement standard practice. You will inspire team members towards hitting their targets.

You will control area output and organise operational activities/resources to deliver targets in keeping with SQDCIP goals. You will ensure daily maintenance of the equipment is completed, maintaining excellent housekeeping standards and monitoring team members to ensure every person and every asset is operating safely and meeting quality requirements on a right-first-time basis. Safety, Quality and Productivity will be at the heart of all you do and creating an engaging environment for your team.,

  • Safety management through safety audits and SIO generation (Safety Improvement Opportunities), creating a culture of 'safety first.'

  • Ensure full compliance of Health and Safety procedures including SOP adherence and incident investigations.

  • Conduct safety awareness meetings, deliver tool box talks and encourage all employees to report all safety issues.

  • Responsible for process control and end of line quality in your areas of work.

  • Ensure compliance to production schedules and communicate results to your team.

  • Take ownership for the compliance and management of hourly boards.

  • Log downtime codes when the area is off-pace or has breakdowns.

  • Actively participate in capturing and closing out 3C SQDCIP actions and follow standard work to deliver SQDCIP targets.

  • Assist with shift handover and support/cover the Group Manager in their absence.

  • Take ownership for team member training to enhance skills and capabilities for your area.

  • Maintain team members skills matrix and carry out and deliver capabilities / gap analysis for your area to improve shift flexibility.

  • Control costs in your area and highlight improvement opportunities.

  • Be available for stock taking and ensure correct recording of stock levels are carried out daily.

  • Good understanding of Health & Safety

  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams

  • Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system is desirable

  • An IOSH managing safety qualification would be an advantage, but not essential

  • Good computer skills and experience of basic business software
