Full Job Description

All duties are subject to change at the discretion of the Managing Director.

  • To prepare and deliver high-quality lessons to the expected standard, developing an understanding of mathematical principles, concepts and methods in a way which encourages confidence, provides satisfaction and enjoyment, and develops a positive attitude towards mathematics

  • To prepare and deliver high-quality EFL lessons to the expected standard, i.e., lessons that motivate the class and have variety, pace, and challenge all the students in line with the BSS ethos.

  • To prepare and deliver Focus Maths lessons to increase students academic and theoretical knowledge in key maths topics.

  • To prepare and teach up to 7.5 hours of Maths lessons each week

  • To prepare and teach up to 17.5 hours of EFL lessons each week . The working day includes up to 3 hours of preparation and admin time (depending on course).

  • To complete administrative duties such as maintaining accurate lesson plans, class profiles, registers and weekly log of work done.

  • To liaise with other teachers and DoS on weekly planning.

  • To ensure that student notebooks are up-to-date, work is marked, mistakes have been corrected and students' self reviews have been completed

  • To ensure that classroom displays are clear, vibrant, illustrative and representative of the students' weeks work.

  • One excursion or airport duty on the weekend, where possible early return for extra prep time

  • To attend one 30-minute CPD session per week

  • To write weekly Progress Reports for all students (even if not leaving or if students change programme after just a few days)

  • To assist the DoS with Placement Testing and administering exams if required


  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • To attend daily staff meetings

  • To follow guidelines as outlined in the Staff and EFL Handbooks and as explained by the Centre Manager / DoS

  • To carry out any other reasonable duties, including to help set up / pack up camp, All rotas and days off are arranged by the Centre Manager. Any issues or changes regarding the rota and/or days off must be approved by the Centre Manager.

  • You are entitled to one 24-hour period off per week, due to the nature of your role this will usually be on the weekend.

  • A typical working day is from 8.15 to 18:00 with up to 5 hours of teaching time and 3 hours of preparation time per weekday. When on wake-up duties, once or twice a week, your day will start at 7.15 (timings may very slightly depending on centre).

  • You are required to attend one 30 minute CPD session per week.

  • Due to the nature of the weekend activities (transfers and excursions) these are usually longer working days.

  • You will be asked to sign the 48 hour working week opt-out agreement.

    Specialist Native / near-native competence in English (written and spoken)

  • First degree or equivalent in a particular subject (Science or Maths)

  • CELTA, Trinity TESOL or Accreditation UK recognised equivalent or PGCE (in English or MFL) are desirable but are not essential

  • QTS (primary or secondary) are particularly welcomed

  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience
