Full Job Description

Our Network Designers produce comprehensive design packs for towns all around the UK. The design process starts with initially drafting at desktop level, interpreting site survey results, then finally preparing all supporting documentation and the complete design. A Network Designer's mission is to produce the most accurate, cost-effective design, that is easy to build with all risks and costs considered.
A Network Designer also has certain statutory obligations, such as downloading and reviewing utilities plans, and liaising with local authorities to inform them of proposed street cabinet locations.
We are looking for someone who is open to having a varied role within the company, that will range from design, project support, document creation, admin functions and confirming that all works meet a set quality criteria.
This role will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all submissions are delivered on time, to our internal standards, and to the client's requirements.

Qualifications are not essential for this role, however GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at C or above, would be desirable. Any other qualifications that are design or telecoms specific, would be advantageous.
Our ideal candidate:
1. Must be able to work independently, and well within a strong team environment.
2. Must be able to work to tight deadlines, with excellent self and time management skills.
3. Must have an excellent attention to detail, and understand the importance of this to the company
4. Must be able to use Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Adobe software. AutoCAD experience desirable but not essential.
5. Must be able to receive and deliver feedback to their colleagues in a constructive manner.
6. Must be a strong communicator, both within the team and externally to clients and other delivery partners.
7. Adopt a forward-thinking approach, with good initiative and be proactive rather than reactive.

Experience

Full training will be provided in dedicated sessions.
We a looking for someone who is open to a challenge, and interested in being a part of the future of Phoenix. It would be advantageous if you have previously worked within the telecoms industry or Network Design; or had previous experience using tools such as AutoCAD and QGIS. Examples of desirable experiences are:

  • Knowledge of CDM regulations

  • Understanding of utilities and underground services

  • Understanding of Openreach and FTTP methodologies/topologies

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, QGIS and Microsoft Office packages such as Visio
