Full Job Description

We have an exciting development opportunity available within our Tax & Trusts Department. This role will be based at our Taunton office on a hybrid basis. This opportunity could be ideal if you're AAT, ATT or CTA qualified or part qualified, or perhaps you're qualified by experience and wish to develop further., We are an experienced team, who will provide you with training, guidance, and support to assist you in getting fully up to speed with this role and to begin developing your own relationships with our clients. As a Trainee in Personal Tax or a Personal Tax Semi Senior some of your duties will include:

  • Advising high net worth individuals on all matters relating to their personal tax, to include capital gains and inheritance tax.

  • Resolving queries, preparing tax computations, and addressing the reporting to HMRC

  • Advising on the IHT and CGT issues that arise in connection with the deceased's estate

  • Liaising/negotiating directly with HMRC regarding the availability of reliefs and exemptions from IHT and CGT

  • An understanding/knowledge of Trust taxation would be useful but not essential to this role

  • Meeting with and liaising with clients.

  • It is an integral part of this role that you comply with data security and all firm policies and procedures.

    Ideally you will be part-qualified working towards your AAT / ATT / CTA qualification and will be keen to extend your skills and experience. You will preferably have experience or an interest in completing tax computations and advising high net worth individuals, although this is not essential and full training will be provided.


  • You'll have technical and creative excellence, strong IT skills, integrity, and a professional manner. You will also be good at using your initiative and determined to provide the best service possible for our clients.
