Pig Stockperson

Based at our breeding unit near Malton you will support the Breeding Unit Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of the pig breeding enterprise, which operates on a 3-week batch system.,

• Actively involved in all areas of pig breeding, you will be involved in all aspects of the 3 weekly routines, including but not limited to feeding, moving, serving, farrowing and handling as well as maintaining the condition and appearance of the site where needed


• Administer vaccine and associated pharmaceutical products to pigs when required


• Ensure compliance with welfare code and quality assurance requirements at all times


• Accurate record keeping and associated administration to company requirements, standards and timescales


• Operating farm machinery and vehicles (tractors, telehandlers, mule etc.)


• Fencing


• Health & Safety compliance, ensuring own and others welfare at all times
  
  Knowledge/previous experience in all areas of pig handling/breeding, working as a Pig Stockperson


• Understanding of welfare standards and health & safety, ensuring quality assurance requirements are adhered to always


• Energetic with a flexible and adaptable approach, in a physically demanding role (the role can involve long hours at times)


• Ability to drive a tractor & trailer and loader


• A team player with excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail


• Full UK driving license


Desirable

• An understanding of disease and medication practices


• Knowledge of new innovation within the pig industry to ensure continuous improvement, maintenance and development of the unit, Livestock: 1 year (preferred)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pig Stockperson to join our team on one of the company's outdoor breeding units.
  
  £28,500.00-£33,000.00 per year depending on experience, plus bonus scheme.
