Full Job Description

An opportunity exists for a senior DMPK bioanalytical scientist to work in our state-of-the-art laboratories located in Oxfordshire. You will enhance our DMPK bioanalytical operations by providing technical and scientific expertise in support of both in vitro and in vivo screening capabilities for small molecule drug discovery programmes. You will contribute to the development of bioanalytical sciences within the group and work closely with DMPK colleagues at other US Vertex sites to share best-practices and build our network of skills.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience of LC-MS/MS analytics, sample preparation and chromatographic techniques together with extensive data interpretation knowledge gained within a fast-paced drug discovery, analytical chemistry or biosciences setting. They will possess excellent communication and teamworking skills and be proficient in the preparation of scientific reports that contribute to project research documentation and regulatory submissions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide broad-ranging bioanalytical support as required for drug discovery programmes.

  • Help support and manage DMPK bioanalytical operations and provide quality control of bioanalytical data. Write documents and reports produced within the group, and sometimes by external partners

  • Provide troubleshooting and enable efficient use of a variety of LC-MS instrumentation (incl. Waters/Thermo/Sciex) to minimise downtime

  • Mentor other bioanalytical scientists and DMPK colleagues

  • Develop and validate bespoke quantitative methods for biomarkers and other biomolecules when required

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies that support bioanalytical science progression within the UK and partner sites, In this On-Site designated role, you will work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.

  • Exceptional attention to detail for review of bioanalytical data

  • Detailed understanding of the theory and practice of LC-MS bioanalysis including trouble shooting and maintenance of equipment, Relevant BSc. or equivalent as a minimum

  • Extensive experience of small molecule LC-MS/MS bioanalysis within drug discovery or biosciences setting

  • Proficiency in use of robotic equipment and laboratory information management systems (e.g. Watson) and some equipment software packages (e.g. MassLynx, Analyst, XCalibur)

  • Experience working with, training and mentoring junior bioanalytical scientists

  • Experience of working with electronic data capture and laboratory notebook systems in line with data integrity principles
