Professional Work Placement (PWP) in Ornamental Horticulture

From the naturalistic plantings of perennials and grasses on Clover Hill, to the intricate detail of the Modern Rose Garden and Herbaceous Border in the Hilltop Garden, you will learn about a range of horticultural maintenance tasks and techniques throughout an intensive work experience placement teaching you how to ensure that these varied areas of the Garden always look their best.

This is your chance to develop your plant knowledge and experiences of working with plants, as you will have access to a large and diverse plant collection that ranges from arid loving plants in the Mediterranean inspired Dry Garden, to the new modern and dynamic Winter Garden.

Throughout the placement you will work within the Garden's departments and with its teams to gain knowledge, skills, training and experiences in the work-based context to prepare you for professional life in the industry.

While you will be asked to complete some guided learning tasks throughout the placement, the programme is very much about practical experience and does not result in a formal qualification.
