Full Job Description

As an experienced and enthusiastic part qualified/qualified accountant or bookkeeper you will work closely with the practice director and sales ledger staff in handling day-to-day bookkeeping, management accounts production and payroll for our practice's own accounts You will prepare and file year end accounts and tax returns and assist with responding to client queries.

The position is part time but may increase in the future, although you will be mostly home office based it may be required for you to attend the office occasionally in Paddington in West London. The working hours are flexible and would also suit someone working around school hours.

  • Report financial results on a regular basis to management

  • Prepare monthly or quarterly financial statements

  • Prepare and manage monthly payroll and HR functions for the company incl. set up new employees, NEST pensions, new starters/ leavers

  • Prepare periodic tax corporation tax returns (or assist with this)

  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns manually or via Quickbooks software and file online

  • You must be familiar with foreign currency bookkeeping and accounting

  • Thorough knowledge of VAT and ideally also cross border VAT is an advantage

  • Assist with practice management and administration tasks

    The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is absolutely committed to consistently meeting strict deadlines. confidentiality, excellent organisational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position. Good team working skills and the ability to communicate clearly is also essential.

  • A native/fluent German speaker would have a particular advantage as the company has many German clients.

  • Minimum five years' experience working in a practice environment in an accountant role with good knowledge of accounting, VAT, payroll reporting and year-end tax filing

  • Knowledge of cross-border VAT is an advantage

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel required, and QuickBooks

  • Experience in payroll management including calculating and submitting payroll taxes online - experience essential (experience on Brightpay payroll software an advantage)

  • Experience with corporation tax computations an advantage
