Full Job Description

  • Reporting to the Company Directors and you will take responsibility for the surveying function of the business.

  • Assess and value the Work in Progress on each site on a monthly basis, and submit applications for payment. Ensure payment is obtained to the timescales detailed in the contract. Monitor the issue of all design information and ensure ensure no works are undertaken that are over and above the Companies contractual obligations without adequate value being recovered for the change.

  • Attend pre-contract and construction meetings as required.

  • Chair internal handover meetings passing secured projects from the Estimating Department to our production team.

  • Liaise with Estimating Department in order to provide accurate and current cost data for inclusion in the company estimates.

  • Create a climate conducive to high motivation and productivity, personal satisfaction and loyalty, by leadership, example and fair practice.

  • Produce monthly cost and value reconciliations, highlighting any variations.


  • Maintain effective relationships with employees, clients, contracting partners and consultants.

    Architectural Metalwork Installations Limited specialises in supplying and installing balconies, balustrading, staircases, canopies and secondary steelwork to blue chip contractors nationwide. The Company has a well-established portfolio of main contract partners that is continually growing, along with a trusted supply chain. Due to this continuing expansion we have a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our existing team. Experience of pricing, valuing & commercially managing elements of architectural metalwork or steelwork in general will be pre-requisite for the role. (This can be from a main contractors perspective as well as directly for a metalwork company).

    The right candidate will be a hardworking and ambitious individual with a keen desire to progress within the industry. You will have excellent construction knowledge, commercial aptitude and an ability to manage timely delivery of valuations and final accounts along with an ability to identify, value and negotiate variation claims.

    You will be a down to earth team player and have the ability to work under pressure and oversee numerous ongoing projects at the same time. You will have excellent time management skills and have the confidence and interpersonal skills to converse with people at all levels. You will have experience of dealing with Clients, Contractors and Designers coupled with excellent negotiation skills and a proven ability at managing the profitability of projects throughout the construction process.

    The role is based at our office in Sheffield but will require travel to sites nationwide at certain times.
