Full Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Science Technician to provide technical support to the Science Department. The role of the science technician is to support the teaching and learning in the Science Department on a day to day basis as directed by the Senior Science Technician and Head of Department. This role would involve organising apparatus and resources prior to lessons, including the construction, preparation, checking of any specialist equipment and assisting teaching staff with practical and examination work. Experience of working directly in a role of this kind previously is not required as training will be provide. Most important is the ability to be able to work independently and in a team, have initiative, and good organisational skills. They must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. It is vital they are able to prioritise their workload and ensure that strict deadlines are met whilst working under pressure and
maintaining confidentiality at all times.

The successful candidate will have Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths and relevant Health and Safety qualifications identified in the person specification. Experience of working in a school is desirable. Most important is the ability to be able to work independently and in a team, have initiative, and good organisational skills.

It is vital that you are able to prioritise your workload and ensure that strict deadlines are met whilst working under pressure and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
