Full Job Description

Sport is very much at the heart of the OLA experience and we currently have an opportunity for a well-qualified and inspirational professional to teach PE at all levels up to, and including, Sixth Form, and Games to all year groups.

Sport is provided through our Co-Curricular Programme, which supplements the teaching of sports in Academic PE (Years 7 to 9) and coaching of the main sports in Games (rugby, football, netball, hockey, cricket, tennis and athletics).

There is also the opportunity for the right candidate to assume the additional responsibility Head of Netball or Head of Rugby (see separate job descriptions). These additional responsibilities are new posts within the School, and will provide excellent experience for any candidate who is aspiring to Head of PE or Director of Sport in the future.

Candidates who are able to teach other subjects should make this clear in their application form.

We welcome applications from both experienced candidates, ECTs and those at the very start of their teaching careers.

For full details of the role please refer to the attached Application Pack.

Application deadline: 9.00am, Thursday 16 May.

The ideal candidate:

  • A good degree in PE or a sport discipline

  • Experience of teaching across the full age and ability range at KS3/KS4/A level

  • Track record of motivating learners and raising achievement

  • Team player who is flexible in outlook and attitude

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Patient, friendly and approachable

  • Positive, enthusiastic, flexible with a pro-active 'can do' attitude

  • Able to drive a minibus or willing to undertake training

  • Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of students

  • Understanding and supportive of the School's ethos

  • What we offer:

  • Free school lunches during term time

  • Free on-site parking

  • Teachers' pension scheme

  • Support from senior colleagues

  • Motivated and enthusiastic pupils
