Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated and hard working person to join our fantastic team. We are a friendly bunch with high standards of care. The successful candidate would be working at our Street Lane Hospital, Moor Allerton clinic and Exotic clinic.

Your main duties will include:

  • Helping with the clinical team with hospitalised patients

  • Answering telephone calls and other receptionist duties

  • Assisting in theatre, wards, pharmacy and consults

  • Ensuring a high level of cleanliness at all sites

  • Stocking up

  • Weekend rota of 1 in 7

  • Night rota of 1 in 7 (7 days on and the 7 days off following paid)

  • Training on the use of various medical equipment to assist the clinical team with providing high levels of patient care


  • Should it be a career path the successful candidate is considering, there are opportunities to progress further onto the veterinary nurse training programme with us in due course.

    Holly House Veterinary Hospital is a first opinion and referral hospital which is open 8am-8pm Monday to Friday. We have a dedicated onsite emergency service open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our lovely practice is located just 10 minutes from Leeds, is close to York and Harrogate and is within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales

    Our amazing team consists of 21 Veterinary Surgeons across all 4 of our branches, 17 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 7 Student Veterinary Nurses, 7 Veterinary Care Assistants, 18 Veterinary Receptionists and a strong admin team.

    We have certificate holders in Emergency and Critical Care, Medicine, Surgery, Exotics and Dentistry. Our ideal candidate would enjoy a varied caseload looking after ops and surgical inpatients, helping with client care and consulting. We are a friendly motivated, inclusive team and regularly have team events for charity (such as recent Dragon Boat event) plus summer BBQ and Christmas Party. Wellbeing is our highest priority, and we have 3 wellbeing champions across the business, a Mental Health First Aider and team coach who can offer individual and team development. We also hold regular clinical governance meetings and Schwartz Rounds as well as team and practice meetings.

    Applicant Requirements You must be able to work evenings and weekends (antisocial hours). Full training will be given.
